W HOTEL Backlit Printed Ceilings
Ceilings Project: Located downtown San Francisco adjacent to the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and across from Moscone Convention Center, the W Hotel is a premier business and tourist destination.
NEWMAT double-layer ceiling membrane, composed of a clear upper dust barrier and translucent lower layer, was selected to provide luminous ceilings in key public areas.
The translucent layer was printed with a graphic design that accentuates and complements the overall theme of the newly re-designed space, while successfully incorporating essential elements such as speakers and fire sprinklers.
A unique lighting scheme, consisting of dimmable linear fluorescent fixtures and reflectors mounted on the tops of floating perimeters formed by NEWMAT aluminum ghost framing profiles, casts light sideways over the tops of the ceilings.
